Lid on XL Egg

Just got our first egg...had the dealer deliver and assemble. The lid, however, won't stay open on it's own. I need to use one hand to hold the lid open which leaves me only one hand to deal with food, etc. Did the dealer improperly install the lid or did I miss a failing of the XL size? Thanks in advance

Yes, it appears the dealer did make a mistake.

The lid of my XL stays open just fine, so would assume there must be an error in assembly.

I suspect someone has no idea how to assemble the hinge band assembly when they brought it to you. This is how the assembly should appear and the dome should slide back away from you when you open the dome and IT SHOULD STAY OPEN with no assistance.

Capt, looks like your XL hinges are the older style. Here are a couple of pics of the newer style. No pics in the open position, briskit a cookn'.

Looks like we have both styles covered and the install is basically the same so if his hinges are mounted differently he should be able to detect the issue with it.

Your right Capt.It should look like one of these.My XL came with the hinge like yours,without the spring upgrade.That is one heavy SOB of a dome to lift without springs

I had the same problem on a large. I had the hinge on upsidedown.
