What suggestions does everbody have for something that can be egged but eaten cold... I actually just drove to Publix, walked through, decided it was just too hot to cook and came home empty-handed. I considered a carpaccio of beef but one of the roomies is just recovering from a nasty stomach virus, so that's out for now... what does everyone else do for dinner when it's this hot?
Disclaimer - this picture was actually taken yesterday, but it did get this hot here again today...

I know the feeling. I am in Woodstock. I am actually going to egg tonight, but doing something I can leave alone for an hour or so and not mess with. I'll be watching Soprano's reruns in the A/C while my chicken cooks, with my remote thermometer in hand.

Oddly enough, I just opened a tasty container of this "beer" you speak of... being single, I can, if I wish, make my entire dinner consist of this "beer" product. I'm enjoying a Budweiser Chelada (Budweiser + Clamato juice premixed in a can) it's a pretty decent warm weather beer.

yuk ! we had 87 here on the coast of Maine today and that is HOT for us. Hardly anyone has air, except in the cars ,so we really feel it when it hits. Sunday was over 90. but we do have a slight ocean breeze that takes the edge off.

55 and raining here in the Northwest. Making a meatloaf for the first time on the egg this evening. Having it with mash potatoes...Meatloaf and Mash on a rainy day..Talk about comfort food..YUM YUM

I really enjoy meatloaf on the egg. It's so hot I can only stand to pour cold beer down my throat at the moment, the poor house ac is struggling to keep up...

Cook a few bone-in, skin-on chicken breast to turn into chicken salad. Diced chicken, mayo, 2 stalks fine chopped celery, salt & pepper then chill. Even better the next day.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

After 35 years in the pool business you get used to the heat in Fl. Thats the best time to find the beer sales because like I told my Wife, it takes a lot more to stay hydrated this time of year. :woohoo:
-
You know - I'm ashamed I didn't think of that. Thanks!

Hey guess what - I just moved back to Athens (home of the Bulldogs - who wants to tailgate in the fall?) from Bradenton, Fl. In the seven years I lived there, it was never this hot! I don't think it ever went over about 96 degrees, we always had a nice ocean breeze...

It was 103 here in Wrens, GA a coupla hours ago. Currently @ 98. Plan to crank her up in another hour and do a flat iron w/garlic Texas toast.

I would move. That is waayyyy too hot!!
-
Yea but not much work for me in your neck of the woods. :(
-
It was about the same in Pennsylvania today. But I made momma happy, put AC in the bedroom (after 20+ years). I'm good to go for at least a week.
-
haha... yep, I guess you are right! Not many/ any pools here!
-
I will endure the heat.. Personally I have had enough of the -40 degs in the winter. Watching Ice Road Truckers reminded me why I don't go back to NY after October.
There are islands on Lake George and the Saranac's that have huge houses on them. These houses were built with materials hauled out to the islands on tractor\trailers during the winter. -
Just moved here. From central Florida mind you - it's way hotter here. However, I lived on the coast in Bradenton so we always had a cool sea breeze, not so much here... I'm actually from the mountains in NC so I have just become used to being miserable for a few months every year - I loves me some cold weather! At least we have four seasons here, in Fl there are only two - Hot and Really F**king hot!
Jon -
I will have to admit you northern folks without central ac are worse off - you don't see a home built in the last 20 years here without central heat and air - the poor ac has run all day without stop the high was 80 degrees inside!
-
Hey by the way AlaskanC, I used to get some salmon smoked by native Alaskans (a friend of the family was a government doctor staioned in AL) that was wicked good - it was kind of like salmon jerky and super tasty - but I've never seen it again. No one seems to know what I'm talking about - have you heard of it?
