I have no idea why I love that show, but I do. Some tough hombres doing that work out there.

Really makes me think when I buy snow crab, almost feel guilty that it is so cheap. -RP

Those guys earn every penny, that's for damn sure. Cold, wet, dangerous work.

It's really breaking our hearts, they can't get him in until the 25th and he basically can't walk. He won't eat because he knows he can't walk to poop. Not fun. -RP

hey Brad....he's on tramadol...50mg...4 in am...4 in pm.....I had to basically hand feed him tonight. Probably only can of wet food total since yesterday. Thing is...he only drinks water outside...a small walk away...and is very private if you know what I mean. Is the other leg gonna hold out long enough for the recovery?

Typically the TPLO's hold up pretty good vs. the old techinque of the extracapsular repair which probably would breakdown. I certainly would not give advise above what your veterinarian has prescribed but i recently attended continuing ed conference in Vegas and discovered that dogs eliminate tramadol from their bodies 5 times faster than we do therefore they can take the recommended dose, which he is on, up to every 6-8 hours. you certainly could add an afternoon dose in there and see if that helps but again, you may want to check with your vet first. Tramadol however has been very safe for us.

Thanks for your input. I'm comfortable with the vet...( I guess I should be with the charges for surgery). We only remember the incruciating pain the first couple of days post surg....then all better from there.
By the way...how are the rehab horses coming along? We have a good day here...today!!! LOL

Well, we just moved into a new house after a year of construction on our property that we bought a couple of years ago. we have 43 acres but only about 15 in pasture and we have 8 horses now and an orphaned rescue calf with one eye. too many mouths to feed but the wife is very dedicated to all of them. I have learned that i come second to all our animals and have accepted that. I hope all goes well with the surgery.

I have the least amount of sympathy for you because you are part of the chain of drains on my income. However, you always give us insight into our vet issues and I thank you. The horse thing is your wife's fault, same as mine. -RP

I think it must be a female thing. It definately eats a hole in the monthly income. I could pay a small mortgage on a vacation home in arizona if i didnt have to pay for horses.

  • Hey, where's my "cup o' noodles" spit cup? Can't drop pots without it!
  • Between biting the heads off of herring, cup of noodles for a spit cup and taking the truck on board...those are some interesting superstitions.

I agree that I do not know why I love this show but I do...

They are hinting at a rough season weather wise(no suprises there..), should be interesting in the next few weeks...
