Tiled Egg table finally finished!

Our Egg table is finally finished!
This was the standard long table for a large purchased from our local Egg dealer (Hearth & Patio). We stained it and then sealed it with spar varnish. We tiled the top (*%&$ those rounded ends), attached a flexible trim strip around it, and then grouted.
Tile: $30
Varnish&stain: $14
Mastic: $10
Grout: $30
Trim: $16
bottom tile: $7
supplies: $10
Total: ~$117
Of course I can't put a dollar amount on my time and talent :silly:
The only downside? Now that it's on my deck, the deck looks awful and now I have to stain it too :pinch:

My wife liked the "gun stock" stain better. When it comes to color coordination, I default to her ever since someone at work once asked me "Your wife didn't pick out your clothes today, did she?"

WOW, you did a nice job, very professional looking!
I plan on putting tile on my table when the nice weather arrives in NY. I am curious, what did you use for the flexible edging....it looks great Thanks for posting and enjoy the table. -

The edging trim was from Lowes and it was called 1 1/4" lattice trim. It was just flexible enough to bend around the rounded edges. I used 1 3/16" brad nails (using a nail gun!). If you have are doing a stock BGE table, on the 2 long pieces of trim, cut a 45 degree mitre and on the short end pieces, use a 40 degree mitre.Knoxville, TN

That looks great! I have some old tile from our house construction and may try that myself. Is the tile top just resting on the wood table surface? My large green egg table top is looking pretty weathered after a few years exposure. I bought some Sikkens marine wood finish to refinish the top but the tile would be much easier to clean.

With the tile directly on the wood, do you think the wood expansion/contraction of the top, due to humidity changes, will affect the tile? I've been wrestling with table ideas and have never done any tile work before (let alone for outdoor use) so I apologize if its a silly question. Large BGE and a couple non-greenies
