I think we may be on to something here. I ate half of the damn thing while it was cooking. You could have cut it with a spoon. It was buttah.
I still felt rare at 140 but I pulled it anyway. Wrapped and sat it for two hours cause nobody was home. Gave it a quick sear and carved.
My wife only likes tenderloin and prime rib but she loved this.

Mike,
You gotta try this. Do you have Price Chopper down there. 3.99 a pound and it doesn't matter what the meat is like. Haven't had a chance to send you the hanger steaks. I'll try and get it done this week.

Looking good on the cook but I want to see Bear perched on your shoulder!! How did you cook it?
-
JD'
Bear weighs about 140, I weigh about 165 he would kill me if he was on my shoulder. He pretty near kills me when he jumps on the couch with me. I started a thread earlier about this strip loin roast that I got on sale that I cooked lo and slo. It was amazing. Carwash Mike wanted to see how it turned out but he's not on line. If you ever get a cut of non prime roast, it is really good to do. I think Jake would scare the cr&p out of Bear.

Steve found the other post. How long you cook it?
-
JD
I didn't really keep track of the time but it had to be a good four and a half hours. I was slicing off thin strips the whole time and mowing down. Cooked to temp but still red and bleeding. It took on a nice smokey flavour. Next time I am not gonna do the sear at the end

Glad I'm not the only one who munches on raw/almost raw beef!
-
It was warm and that isn't even a requirement with me. Ever try carpaccio?

The roast looks really nice, Steve. Poor dog looked like he really wanted some of that. Spotted the MacBook, too. Those things are great! Originally got mine so that I could get the scores for the other games while watching what was on, instead of having to wait for the scrolling ticker to see the scores.

Yep. Poor Bear. I do not have dogs but my neighbor has a couple. I see them lick their lips and hear them whine every time I fire up my egg.
