650 degrees

I finished the kids snack which was wings and my top damper was getting kind of gunked up so I put top damper on the grill grate (platter setter is in) and opened the bottom damper wide open, came back an hour and a half later and it was 650 degrees.
I called myself doing a 500 degree 2 hour clean a few weeks ago but the results were not like this.
The lid was stuck shut, I'm not sure my gasket will take many of these but the black on the inside is gone, plate setter is real clean too.
Dadgum egg really is self cleaning.
