Does anyone have an outstanding horseradish sauce recipe to go with all those prime ribs we will be cooking for Christmas?

  • Smokin Tiger,[p]This one is very good. Happy Holidays![p]Sauce, Beef, Prime Rib, Horseradish, RhumAndJerk

This is the perfect accompaniment to Prime Rib.
    [p]Ingredients:
    1/2 cup Heavy Cream
    3 tsp Horseradish
1 pinch garlic powder or a small clove of garlic, crushed
    1 pinch Kosher Salt
A couple of grinds of White Pepper

    Preparation Directions:
1 Whip the heavy cream until it is stiff.
2 Gently stir in the remaining ingredients.
3 Taste and adjust the flavor to your liking. Remember that Horseradish should be the predominant flavor, but not overpowering.
4 Chill for a half hour before serving to let the flavors marry.

    Smokin Tiger,
Thanks for reminding me, now I have to go Monday to find a fresh hr. root. We're doing prime rib and I must have horseradish.[p]In Austria, we usually had beef served with a blob of grill marrow on top and fresh coarsely grated horseradish, but that is rather bizarre for American tastes, so here is another:[p]2 tablespoons lemon juice (only 1T needed if using prepared horseradish)
50 g grated horseradish (or the equivalent of prepared horseradish if you cannot get it fresh)
1 large tart apple, peeled & cored
    salt
    caster sugar (fine granulated)
50 ml double cream (whipping cr)
    50 ml sour cream [p]

Stir 1T of the lemon juice into the grated horseradish (to stop it going brown). If using prepared horseradish skip this step.
Grate the apple & mix with the horseradish and the remaining 1T of lemon juice.
Add salt & sugar to taste & leave to stand for 10 minutes.
Lightly beat the double cream & fold in the sour cream until combined.
Mix this into the horseradish mixture & serve.

    Smokin Tiger,
We keep horseradish sauce real simple, It seems to me that some folks try to do to much to HR sauce and it is not so good. [p]1 cup Sour Cream
3 Tbls Horseradish (more if you like)[p]Mix together and serve.[p]Enjoy the prime rib.

Thank you all for the recipes. I will make at least a couple of them to try. Hopefully the prime rib will be the real star. I recieved a large egg for an early Christmas present this year and have used it about 7-8 times already. The egg is the gift that keeps on giving.[p]The forum is great![p]Thanks again and Merry Christmas![p]TC
