Belle's Dad,
Celtic Wolf is slipping. Your photo didn't show up. You have to put the URL of the photo itself in the Optional Image URL field. If you only have a link to a web page, you have to put that in the Optional Link URL field:

Belle's Dad,[p]That is a great looking table. I think it is a great upgrade over a wood surface and should be somewhat heat resistant).[p]Did you put the tile (thin-set) directly on wood, or did you use a backing (like cement board)?[p]Smokey

Belle's Dad,
Nice table. I like the look of slate with the egg.
'Tis a grand Christmas gift.
Enjoy!

Belle's Dad,
Had you just cooked something when you took the photo? If not, you might want to recalibrate your thermometer, it appears to be at 200 degrees. By the way...Nice Table!!

Dawgtired,[p]Yes - 12 lbs of wild pig for an office lunch - party.

Smokey,[p] Darned if I know. It was a surprise gift from my son. I will ask him, when, he and his family come down for Christmas.

Nice looking table! One question though and don't mean to alarm you especially after getting such a nice gift-- glazed tiles have lead in them- I'm a pizza cooker and know to use unglazed tiles in high heat for this reason. These tiles are well away from the heat source but you might want to verify that there isn't a risk of lead exposure here (question 1 are they glazed tiles and 2 is the heat exposure insignificant...I would think so but please check!)[p]Marge

Large Marge,
Not true. Most glazes are lead free, cheap sources from third world sweat shops still fire with lead glazes but by far the majority of new ceramic products are lead free. The tiles look like natural slate, mineralized sediment and if so have no glaze. If the tiles are ceramic I believe he is food safe. A cutting board and serving tray solve any food contact situations anyway.

Belle's Dad,[p]
Wow I wish my son would do something like that for me. All I got this year was a picture he drew for me in preschool. Lazy bum.

Belle's Dad,
Slate, with concrete board backing.
