Little Steven,[p]its going to be close... im cooking a turkey, should i even use the platesetter? thanks!

Mark,[p] You want to use the platesetter. I don't remember doing a turkey on the XL. I would be concerned about putting the platesetter on the top of the firebox. Do you have any firebricks? I would try to get something like that as a spacer between the firebox and platesetter. Either that or space your roasting pan well off the platesetter.[p]Steve

Mark,
I have 2 15lb'ers on my xl and i have a full firebox of lump then the plate setter on top of the fire box then the fire ring with alluminum pan then grid. works great.

Little Steven,
There should be no concern about the platesetter being on top of the firebox. I cook this way on the XL all the time.
The fire temp for a turkey should be in the 300/350 range; pizzas are 500+;.
I don't see the concern.

Hammer,[p] I was thinking that there would not be good airflow with a full load of lump. As I said I've never done turkey on the XL. Good to know[p]Steve
