Firebrick question....

I was wondering if firebricks can be used for the base to make pizza on the EGG?. I live near two brickyards, and would be much easier to obtain firebricks then a specialized pizza stone for the MINI.

<p />Smokin' Todd, I've only used firebricks as a base - however, I've never tried it on a mini - but, I would think it would work fine. The picture is one of the time taht I used the 'Z' formation.[p]:~}[p]

Do you have good heat distribution through the whole pie?....i.e....some parts of the dough more/less cooked then the others?...any serious charring problems?
Also, at what temp do you achieve that awesome meal?

Smokin' Todd, not many problems, but I did go back to the traditional |__| in later cooks - results are more even. Normally I shoot for about 550 dome. Good luck![p]

djm5x9,[p]I have never made a pizza on the Egg - I do keep threatening to though.[p]If you use bricks but no pizza stone doesn't the dough tend to want to seep down between the bricks? Also even if the bricks are tightly packed together, if they aren't quite level -_- wouldn't removing the pizza become difficult?[p]Still Threatening,

Jethro,[p]Just a thought here. Maybe you could try covering the bricks in aluminm foil to prevent the seepage? I've got a stone and a plate setter, but maybe this "just firebrick avenue is worth investigating.[p]--Kevin
