How long to rub Butt?

Just wondering if rubbing a boston butt the day before it goes to the egg would do anything for a better butt... Or is it just as good to rub it down just before it goes on?[p]As an aside, I am a bit green about everyone heading down to Atlanta for the fest. I thought I would be able to pull it off but there is no getting away. Perhaps next time. I am assuming there will be enough pics to make it feel like I was there.[p]Thanks,

    There will be pics. As far as the rub goes. Some say do ahead others say no. I think mine turn out okay and I normally rub em and throw them on the Egg.

    I put the rub on the night before, keep it in the fridge, then on the counter for at least an hour before smoking. I have in a pinch, rubbed them and put them straight away into the smoker, but I do prefer the night before. butt that's just me.[p]Havefun
