Paella Night

Last year they had 12 gallons of sangria and things got a little crazy. They only mixed up six this year and a good time was had by all.
I counted 5 pans of paella total. Three with seafood, and two without.
I had to try a plate from each batch and was glad I did as they were each a little different.
I've been wanting to try this at home for months now.[p]

Grandpas Grub,
That is the 14" carbon steel pan from paellapans.com. -RP

AZRP,
What size BGE are you showing in your picture? When you order a Paella pan, is the diameter from edge to edge or handle to handle? Are you using a carbon steel or an enameled Paella pan? I thinking of ordering the enameled pan just because os easier clean up. Do you have an opinion?

AZRP,
Thank you! That picture is of of my favorites. Someone else has one with corn hunks in it which I remember too.[p]Just haven't taken the plunge for all the necessities.
Maybe this winter....

Letts-Do-It,
14" carbon steel in a large Egg, I would imagine the enameled would clean up better. Email Sarah Jay at paellapans@pobox.com and she will answer any questions you have. -RP

stike,
Please tell me what you know about Bomba rice and what you really about it. I thought I had tried many types of rice but this one passed me by.[p]David

stike,
Try La tienda online. Online and mail order for pans, and spanish foods. They have a great little retail store in Williamsburg Va. If you get in a bind let me Know I'm down there every other week for work.

EmandMs'Dad,
thanks very much!
i'd been hoping to find bomba around here. just hasn't happened. resigned to ordering on line, not that that is a problem, just that it's a wait!

Letts-Do-It,
it soaks up a tremendous amount of liquid without getting mushy or creamy. you want the paella rice to crisp up on the bottom, and it takes forever without the right rice. and rissotto rice can get creamy, even though it soaks up a ton of liquid too.
