Sven,
If you read the lables, many white bags are acceptable for food. Most black ones include a pestacide. I brine in my 5 gal. water cooler and do not use bags so no worry. Hope this helps.

Sven,
I wouldn't brine in a garbage bag. I use a 5 gal pail, which I keep clean and sterilize with Iodophor (an Iodine solution that beer makers use to sanitize their equipment) or a cooler with a lid, (same sanitation technique) If using a bag, you still need to hold it in a pail of something. so just use the pail. Another sanitizing method is to use regular household bleach in a solution of water. 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. keep in contact for 5-6 minutes. Then put in your brine, and turkey, some ice, and keep cold.[p]you're all set

Sven,
You can also use the oven roasting bags for Turkey. I think Glad wrap company handles them. Get the largest available and put bag in a cooler with ice just to prevent any mishaps of leaking in the fridge.
