<p />The table is starting to look like something now.[p]The rock is up and the electrical and lighting is finished. I installed 4 separate power outlets and used rope lighting under the upper counter on the cook’s side. The rock side has 3 low voltage puck lights to illuminating the rock at night. The lights are on seperate dimmers and controlled by a photocell to turn on and off automatically. [p]Next step is to cut and install the slab for the upper counter and work on the drawers and trim out the cook’s side.

That is choice! I'm glad you posted these pics, it gives me some ideas for the outdoor kitchen I'm designing. Using the rope light for indirect lighting in the cooking area, is a great idea. You've done a really nice job, I can't wait to see the finished product(I'll bet you too!).

When I built that section of the deck I planned on putting in an outdoor kitchen. I put a 4x4 post in the ground every 4 feet and used 12 inch spacing on the joists. The deck boards are IPE. I like to overbuild things.

I like the pics of your outdoor kitchen you posted earlier. You did a great job.

That's looking pretty good dude! Is there enough clearance in the back to open up the egg? Looks kinda close from the pics. The Blocks make it a really nice texture with the lighting.

The area under the table has 4x4 posts in the ground every 4 feet and the joists are on 12 inch centers. The deck boards are IPE wood. All joints are nailed together with Simpson Strong Ties.[p]I like the outdoor kitchen pics that you posted earlier. You do good work.[p]Matt

MattB,[p]Looks great although a little crowded to the left of the egg (when facing it). I'll be curious to hear if you think so too once you start using it.[p]I noticed a lot of egg tables only have room for stuff on one side - seems like two sides with room would be better (or would they just gather more clutter?)

beerco,[p]I know what your saying about the left side space. I had to keep the table close to the wall because of the door that goes to a storage room. [p]We used full size paper templets when designing the table size and location. This helped with trying to figure out traffic flow on the deck.[p]I decided to make a single bigger space instead of two small spaces. I'm right handed so the space is on the right.[p]Matt

Jeeves,[p]The spa took about 4 months to build and the cost was less than most small spas you buy at the store. I think my material cost was around $3000.00.[p]This was one of those projects that most people would never think of doing, but it really was not that hard to do. It just took a lot of time. We are very happy with the way it turned out.
