Cleaning PlateSetter
Bob In Texas
Posts: 111
I removed my platesetter after everything cooled, and mercy, what a blacked mess on the down side. What is the best way to clean it, other that soap and water or just wiping with newspaper? I wiped it with newspaper, but black still rubs off, and I would like to store it in the box with the other accessories.

Bob In Texas,[p]Clean it?? It's seasoned now [p]Wrap it in a garbage bag and place it in the box..[p][p]Yes that really is the XL plate setter.

Bob In Texas,[p]If it is really nasty and greasy, just leave it in the egg for a high temp cookoff. When it all cools take a wire brush or crumpled foil ball to it.

Celtic Wolf,
Looks more like a large rather than an XL. Isn't XL more oval: this looks like a circle.

Letts-Do-It,[p] Nope. ALL BGE's are round. Trust me it's an XL. I own two of them, 2 large eggs and a Small.

Bob In Texas,
you might not like this idea but mine was a charred mess and I let the dogs lick it clean. Now I wrap it in tin foil. [p]Gwen

Bob In Texas,[p]Too bad they don't ship them seasoned![p]If you really insist, you could put in the oven on 'self-clean'. You could also try using a pressure washer to it (wide spray at first) - just an idea...[p]-Jeeves

Bob In Texas,I do not ever clean the plate setter or the pizza stone other than scrape them off with a spatula. When I cook again I bring them up to temp and get after it. Never had a problem and I would never put them in water.
