    Rick's Tropical Delight,
OH WOW!!! Does that look good!
Lemee ask ya....how are you reheating the pork? Do you take it completely out of the FoodSaver bags or do you heat it right in the bag?

  • Tiger Tony,
that's a good question! i just got this food saver yesterday so i've never done it before. i'm planning on taking those to bristol for the race next weekend and selling them to the neighbors there, if they make it that long! i'd reheat either in hot water or dumped in a sauce pan over low heat.
tomorrow, i'm doing two small boston butts and will foodsaver the lot for bristol as well.[p]*have you hugged your egg today?*

  • Tiger Tony,
great story in your profile, btw. how's it going down there?

Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]"btw. how's it going down there?"
    What a question! LOL!
Let me start by saying, things are not what they used to be. We here in New Orleans lost a lot, we are trying to come back but the truth is some areas of our city will never recover. Areas like Lakeview where I grew up and most of my family lived are completely destroyed, so much so that they had to be bulldozed down. It's still really bad. None of us can get insurance on our homes, and if we can the premiums went up 3 to 4 times in cost.
The neighborhood that I currently live in is building back. Most of us have rebuilt our homes and are out of the FEMA trailers. Many of my friends and relatives are not rebuilding and they moved out of state.
The good news is that our tourist areas, the French Quarter, the CBD, Garden District and uptown Audbon Park areas are doing fine. We can still throw a good party and eat and drink :)
I'm not going to lie. Our crime rate is horrible, it is flat out dangerous to venture out late at night in certain sections of the city. Even in my "nice neighborhood" we hear of robberies and house break-ins happening all the time. Lots of immigrants are here hanging out where ever they can looking for labor/construction work. Traffic has never been worse, people drive like they are crazy. Health care around here is really suffering. Last week a trip to the emergency room with my wife took 7 hours before she was seen by a doctor. They are that understaffed.
I could go on and on.......
I wish I could say more positive things, but I just can not. Katrina was life changing. [p]
