Rick's Tropical Delight,
Makes nice clay cookers. Nice pics too.

Are you married, Rick's Tropical Delight?
-
J Appledog,
nope... but i'm looking for a dishwasher.[p]i wonder if i can pipe in some smooth chocolate creme and make an éclair type thingy. hmmmm
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
That's very interesting though I have to ask...a long time egger named CharWoody had eggspermented with terracotta pots and I thought they gave off an after taste, or couldn't be cleaned properly and eventually blew up. Not being critical just my fuzzy memory coming back.

Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Made some store bought Pillsbury Cinnamon roles over the weekend, and they received high marks, but those sound great. Did you/can you use clay pots bought at a garden store?[p]Smokey
-
RRP,
really? someone on here told me about doing the rolls in the clay pots... they said they made monkey bread. i can't remember who it was.
these cleaned up ok with just hot water... if it blows up, does it damage the egg?
-
Smokey,
these were 3" std pots from the garden department.
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
damage? I doubt it unless the clay had a huge amount of water in it when it went into the egg and I doubt you would have left it to soak overnight! I've emailed C~W but that rascal has been MIA from the P board since Feb 4 but word is he's OK.

RRP,
looks like there is a lead concern with glazed clay...
i don't think these are glazed. i didn't soak them prior to baking, but i did let the dough rise in them in the oven for about 1:30

And where do you live, Rick's Tropical Delight? I know some some great people all over this country who like to wash dishes....

Rick's Tropical Delight,
As I've said before....you're a piece of work, My friend! Great imagination and presentation.[p]Mike
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Guess I'll be picking some up this weekend! [p]Smokey

AZRP,
nice runway!
i'm an airfield engineer
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
Most people wouldn't know that is a runway, looks a lot better today, that shot is 5 years ago. -RP

Rick's Tropical Delight,
What's with the island of despair? -RP
-
AZRP,
it's just a joke...[p]i had to zoom out one to make sure that was a runway... but that centerline stripe looked too long to be a road. how do you guys not run into each other? is there a tower?
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
It's a private strip, La Cholla Airpark on the northwest side of Tucson. I built my house here 30 years ago, it was 14 miles of dirt road to get out here then. Today I have to wait for traffic to get out of the neighborhood. -RP
-
RRP, thanks for the post..and good for Rick to be experimenting with the clay pots.
At that time back then, I was doing mini pizza in the solid base clay bases. I really didn't appreciate the taste of the first trials as compared to fired ceramic stones. But it's worth rechecking. Overall, the mini pizza cooked nicely..just a kinda rubbery taste to the dough.
Keep up the good experiments.

Char-Woody,
Good seeing you around Char-Woody![p]H

Rick's Tropical Delight,
It kills me when I can't see pictures. Couldn't see Mr Toads either, but I see everyone elses.

and i thought it was bad when the text wouldn't turn green! hahaa
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,[p] Your pots are NOT Glaze. Glazed ones will have a similar finish inside and out as the Egg does outside.[p] Alton Brown cooks in the dang things all the time.
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,

-

-
Rick's Tropical Delight,
Wow! You could dive into those right after you consume the Fatties! Damn, it's a wonder we all aren't in a cardiac unit somewhere![p]Could the Cult be trying to kill us all? Okay, I suppose it's not grape Kool-Aid.
