Essex County,[p]No, us lurkers don't post. But you finally pulled me in. I can't cook, so I have to follow very detailed directions almost word for word because I worry about screwing it up. This forum is awesome because it and TNW has plenty of specific instructions to follow so that even I don't screw it up. [p]Speaking of screwing it up...the last all nighter I'm afraid I almost screwed up the pulled pork. My husband inverted the raised grid and attached a second grid so we could double the cooking space. With platesetter & drip pan, I put a 9lb brisket on the bottom grid and 2 8lb pork butts above the brisket on the 2nd grid. The pork butts were too close to the dome to leave the thermometer in so I moved the thermometer to the daisy wheel. I think the 2 pork butts were so large that they along with the brisket blocked the air flow and I never got an accurate read on the temp. So when trying to get the temp up to 225 at the daisy wheel the grid temp was probably much higher, cooking the meat too fast.[p]Anyone else ever have the problem of too much meat blocking the air flow, or thermometer at the daisy wheel not reading an accurate temp? It was also a cold night.[p]It was an awesome site when they were done, but as luck would have it the camera batteries were dead.[p]Grill Goddess (GG)

Chez,[p]Dude, you should really post more here. I am a big fan of your recipes, pictures, songs, and posts in general on the BBQ forum. So lurk if you must, but I'm fairly certain your cooking wisdom would be hugely welcomed here.[p]Heeee...or should I say, "true dat,"

I have been a steady lurker since buying a medium egg about 8 months ago. Quickly learned to never try a new receipe without first checking here. This is thanks for all the good advice. I've never had a failure to suggestions and ideas in the forum. Its a pork loin roast this weekend.

    Essex County,
Hi! I've been a lurker for years. Fascinated by the BGE. Finally got one a couple of years ago. It was like a duck to water. Except those first couple of flash backs sure do get your attention. This forum and the people who contribute are the greatest. Looking forward to the Florida Fest! Dewberry

  • Essex County, I lurk more than I post. No harm in lurkin'! some message boards keep lurkers listed as "online" though.[p]Aloha![p]Greg

  • Hey all, been lurking for a couple of months in the SF Bay area, getting tips and ideas for my egg. Not new to BBQ, just the egg, dabbled in Q contests off and on for the last several years, did OK in the contests but got my butt whipped more than anything else. Working on my testicular fortitude to post a picture of a final product but we're not there yet. Going to play with my new toy this weekend (guru) Thanks for the help.

    Essex County,
I am amazed at how many people are egg owners but don't feel comfortable about posting their eggsperiences on the site. I for one, believe that we all learn from each other. This is cooking food, for goodness sake, not building rockets. I think that maybe someone learns a little from my trials, tribulations, and successes just like I learn from everyone else. Come on people, join the forum. Thanks for chiming in already!

  • Essex County,
Since I am not one of the elite Egger family members as some of you are, I guess I am a luker. But then, I have been online since for a long time. I started working with computers in my office when we had the real floppy disc.I have had internet service in my house since the early 90's [p]Chef Jerry

    Essex County,
Thank you, My Friend. I think this is the first post of this nature that I have seen (could be mistaken). That said, I applaud your effort to bring others into the fold. I would never have entered the foray were it not for Chris (Nature Boy) encouraging me nearly 4 years ago. Man, I'm sure glad he did. This is a unique group of folks who share a lot of ideas and a lot of fun with each other. My day would not be the same without you guys.[p]Mike

    Essex County,
I've been lurking and smoking on the BGE for over four years here in Salt Lake. When I don't have a lot of time, I will just scan the pages for a Stumpbaby response. That keeps me comin' back for more... that and the pictures!

    Essex County,
Don't know if I'm totally a lurker, I do post from time to time, but mostly on beef ribs, cause I do those well. I've had my egg for about 6.5 years, and love it. This is an excellent forum and I learn stuff on it everyday. Hoping this year to make the 8 hour trip north to the SF Eggfest, tried last year, but well business kept me home.

    <p />Essex County,
OK,OK, You busted me! I've been lurking here(and other places) since Oct. trying to learn all I can about this rig. I spotted it in my neighborhood with a $200 price tag. Of course, I HAD to buy it at that price, even if I just wanted it to admire on my patio. I soon found out it's good for other things. Still experimenting!
It gets along good with my Weber Kettle and WSM.[p]Bob

MesaManiac,[p]Wow, that was a steal! Ping me if you'd like me to post a temperature control primer authored by someone else here on the forum. It's long enough that I don't want to just post it without a request.[p]Welcome and listen to what you learn here, not in that manual I see on the table... :-)

    Lawn Ranger,
Thanks for the kind words. I check the board several times a day and most times I don't post. I thought there must be a bunch of folks who do this and post a lot less than I do. But I didn't expect to shake the tree like that!
    Paul

  • Essex County,
I like that other people make the same mistakes that I have but I don't have to tell the world about and can learn from their posting of my mistakes.[p]rb[p]ps This means I'm not lurking, don't it?

  • I lurk because I'm trying to decide if it is really worth the $$ to buy a BGE. So far it appears it is worth the $.
