Cleaning daisy wheel cover

I have had my egg for six years now and the daisy wheel cover is getting a bit sticky.
What do ya'll recommend for cleaning?
I seem to recall a post a few year back advising the use of ammonia?

A soak in that will work. I always throw it in the egg after a cook. The heat from high temps keeps her pretty clean.

Noticed that mine is pretty grungy and hard to open and close. [p]Thought about using some spray gun cleaner (Gunscrubber from Walmart) or else some carbeurator cleaner to dissolve the deposits - but would definately let it dry and then "cook it" real good before actually using it while cooking food.

ravnhaus,[p]I like Dawn's Power Dissolver (I think's what it's call). It's in a blue bottle. Take the wheel a part, spray everything (do not add any water), let it sit for 20 minutes and watch the grease wash off. You may need to scrub a little if it's really caked on.[p]Howard
