Guava Wood and pulled pork?

I ordered guava wood a while back and have been using it on chicken an fish with great results. I'm cooking 20 pounds of pulled pork tonight for a superbowl party and was thinking about trying the guava wood. [p] I'm kind of concerned about going away from the tried and true for a party so curious if anyone has used guava wood with pork before. [p] Think it's to "light" for pulled pork, any thoughts?

I used guava for our crown roast of pork for xmas and it was great. I have also used it with boneless pork roasts with the same great result. I would think it would be great for pulled pork. Go Bears! -

DannyV,[p]Yup, I use it all the time for pork. I just cooked 40 butts for a church fundraiser using guava wood for flavoring. It gives pork, especially ribs, a "what is that flavor?" kind of taste. It's my "secret weapon".[p]It's been a long day. We fired up 5 cookers in the church parking lot at 3:00 AM this morning so we could pull and foil 200 butts for a 3:00 - 6:00 PM delivery time.

AlaskanC,[p]With great food like that, no wonder the bears hang around.

DannyV,[p] It's been an ordering kind of day so I just bought me some..[p]

Celtic Wolf,[p]Don't forget your popcorn for the movies.

Richard,[p] Got that!![p] Let's see today I bought a melting pot, two six inch cast iron skillets, XL BGE, Guava Chunks and 10 pound bag of Popcorn Rice.

Celtic Wolf,[p] Tell me about it. I figured since I like the guava wood I might as well try the Kiawe! It should be here in a few days.[p] Then I was kind of annoyed with the kit lense that came with my camera since it wasn't worth a flip in low light. An eye squenching sum later and the new lense is on the way. Now I should be able to take a shot of pulled pork under a full moon![p] More BBQ Porn to come!

BBQBluesStringer,[p] I'm not quite at you're level yet I'm only doing 2 butts. LOL! I did fire em up with the Guava wood though. I'll post a follow up tomorrow to show how they came out.[p]Thanks!

AlaskanC,[p] Hmmm, guava BBQ sauce to go with the guava smoked pulled pork...I'm off to the store first thing in the morning! [p] I fired them up with the guava wood and will post a follow up tomorrow to let everyone know how they came out.[p] You gotta love this forum, so many new ideas![p]
