You were right, I seared the ahi steaks brushed will a little mayo and a light dusting of shakin the tree. Rub didn't burn or turn bitter, in fact they were killer good. Wasn't a flame thru the dome type sear but I had about 3" of lump left in the bottom of my large fully going with the grid in the normal position and vents wide open. Time was about 2 1/2 per side.
