Tim M,
I was just perusing your site (after you posted a pic of that grill extender that you will be hunted down and killed for if you don't give us more information about<g>) and came across these images:[p]http://www.tm52.com/bge/grate1.jpg

Is there any fear of the metal in these expanding and cracking the firebox? Forgive my ignorance of metalurgy, I would assume you wouldn't use it if it would cause any problems. I just didn't want to run out and get one of these babies if there were potential problems to be concerned with.[p]Thanks,
Mike
P.S. Very informative site. Great Job!

Mike Bowen,[p]The cast iron trivett is made by Lodge and can be found in many hardware stores. Its a 7" trivett. It sits loosely in the firebox and so would not force itself against the firebox walls since they are tapered at that area. I have used it for 2+ years with only wonderful results. Starting a grilling fire from below the grate with a fire cube is only one advantage. Faster temps due to added air flow is another big advantage. I have yet to find a disadvantage - maybe that when you stir the old lump you need to be sure to not wobble it or a little lump would fall into the ash area. [p]Tim

  • WessB,
Yeah, I saw that in there. Listed as "Special" if I remember correctly. Tim certainly got a lot of attention with his teaser post. Several folks have voiced interest, but I bet there are more lurking waiting to hear more.[p]Mike

WessB,[p]No, I am not imping anything. No problem! I just meant I wasn't hidding it (the new grid extender), I placed it on my website the day after I got it - I just never called it the new grid extender. BGE said they have them in the stores so its been out there for some time, I wonder why no one ever mentioned it before on the forum, I was unaware it was even available until now. I wish I could get to Egg Central sometime to see what all they do have there. Hope you enjoy it. I am sure there will be some at Eggfest2001.[p][p]Tim
