Well, I finally recovered from my marathon cook and the Birthday BBQ!
Cooked 8 boston butts a total of 71.2 pounds. Pulled off over a 2 day period cooking 4 butts per burn. Each cook started at 6am and finshed no later than 10pm that night, finishing each butt around 190*. Maintained solid tempatures of 230*-250* on the top rack and 205*-225* on the bottom rack. With a full firebox loaded to the bottom of the drip pan, had to add more fuel after 9 hours, all that meat just soaked up the heat. These babies pulled apart like silk it was a beautiful thing, yielded approx. 40lbs. Served along side of BBQ beans, cole slaw, deviled eggs and fresh potato rolls. Had 3 different sauces from the Willinghams bbq book and everyone was in hog heaven, well at least thats what said! 75 people ate all they could and still went home with some treats for later. My wife was so happy about everything and all my hard work she authorized the purchase of a 2nd EGG!!! Life is good.[p]Greg
