With Lent soon upon us I got to thinking today when do salmon start running? Where does the salmon come from that is still in the market cases?..frozen left over from a year ago? and lastly how do us flat landers ever get a chance to buy Copper River salmon without traveling to Washington and Alaska? Just sign me a hungry kat!

one feral kat, I think Frozen Chosen could offer some links to the Copper River Salmon. And George from Littleton, Colorado has a import source. They are budget busters tho.

one feral kat, Spring will not get here soon enough for me. I won't be getting any fresh salmon but the crappie I get will be wonderfull. I usually deep fat fry but looking to egg this year.[p]CWM

Can you give me a shout when the crappie start bedding up or least start hiting? Or better yet, when the deep fried crappie are about 2 hrs away from the table! Mmmmmmm! Mmmmmm! Like eating candy, only its's good for you![p]

Sippi, I cooked some on a weber a few years ago. I just put them in a pan with butter and lemon and apple chunks. Flavor was wonderful but the fish fell apart to easy.[p]CWM

Car Wash Mike,
I have had the same experience. Fish taste great but fall to pieces. I am going to try skinning some with some catfish pliers and cooking them whole. I have to catch them first, but weather should break shortly.
