Just bought one of these tents for cooks on rainy days. Don't know if it's asking for trouble or not - meaning hot exhaust rising to the top on a windless day. Don't know if it's necessary, but thinking of spraying the underside with a fire retardant spray. Anyone using anything similar?

I doubt you'll have a problem unless you're going to blue flames out the top. Normal use doesn't generate that much heat once you go over a foot above the top vent. I think I've tried it at 550-600 and didn't feel much heat at allLarge BGE in Moore, OK

You are fine I have cooked under pop up canopies many times

You probably thought of this already, but the the legs probably need to be anchored in some way. The heat probably wont be an issue.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Been using it for a year and as long as its not coming in side ways it works gteat. Mine is screwed into the deck. During the Irma I removed the roof.O-Town, FL

I have had my large under one for over a year. I need to take a picture. In the center there in a bird's nest. I would say if there was a heat problem birds would not build there. The birds did get a little up set when I was cooking after the babies hatched but they got over it.

Thanks, I appreciate all of your input - looking forward to my first cook during a downpour.

i use offset umbrella 10 foot diameter, less than $100 if you look around, only open when it's raining or snowing

You've made a terrible mistake! My patio umbrella evolved to a pop up tent to a 12 x 12 frame grill shed to having a storage room for grill accessories and a sitting deck that I'm expanding now. Advice: go ahead make it permanant add water and electricity and a place to entertain! You won't be sorry.
