Sea Scallops....big better

Sandbagger

I hit the grocery store this morning looking to fill out the brisket meal. The seafood counter had max 10 count sea scallops on special for $9.99/lb. I got two pounds and asked the counter guy how many that is. His response about 10.....so, how about 5 or 6 count scallops! Can these rascals be too big, or is bigger better? [p]On a side note, I checked the ribs for a mid week meal and a good number of packaged ribs by Morrell had no sell by date. I thought packaged meat needed a sell by date to be legit. [p]Thanks T

Sandbagger,[p]I am jealous. The bigger the scallop the better! Big scallops sear well on the outside whils not overcooking on the inside. Little scallops just can't handle heat well.[p]Congrats and enjoy!

Spin, thanks for the heads up. I bought them still frozen. I figure they will make a great addition to several meals. My daughter and I like em with steak too. There are a couple monsters in the bag. T

It depends. For soups & gumbos, I actually prefer the small ones. But if I'm going to grill or saute it, yeah, get the big ones.
