SMOBOT kickstarter, and project background

It occurs to me that many out there on egghead who probably aren't familiar with the roots of the SMOBOT project on this forum.  This old thread illustrates how this got started, for those interested:

I want to clarify for those who aren't familiar with KickStarter, just what it is that Curtis and I are seeking to accomplish - and what the KickStarter isn't.

The KickStarter is a project seeking support of interested people to help fund the final development and production of a batch of consumer-ready controllers.  The reward to backers will be a full-featured controller later this year. KickStarter lets you get an inside view on what it takes to bring a product to market.

This particular project began "organically" (I normally hate using that word) through interactions with, and support from this community.  I'm excited to finally be able to bring the project to this last major mile stone with your support.

That said, the design work is complete.  We're still looking at a rain cover solution, and variant damper designs to support more grills, such as the MiniMax.

Much of the hardware is on order, everything's been thoroughly vetted out by our Beta supporters, so we're certain to deliver a beautiful product if we can get funded.
