Someone just emailed me info of 4 planes that were in WWII that are touring the country. You can tour them, and also take a ride in them. Looks interesting.

    We have a small airport that hosts an airshow annually in the fall. They generally have a few old war birds from the Collings Foundation.
    I highly recommend seeing the planes in person if you have the chance to do so. They are very impressive. I haven't flown in any of them, but last year, there was a B 29 Superfortress. I'm not sure who exhibited the B 29. I didn't get to see it in person. It would be a once in a lifetime experience to be able to fly in the cockpit.

    In Virginia Beach is a private collection, the Virginia Aviation Museum. They have about 25 old airplanes mostly WW2 and WW1. P51, Corsair, Spitfire, B17, Hellcat, B25, PB5Y Catalina. Even some German and Russian craft.

    They host a few 'fly-ins' each year complete with hanger dances and take some of the planes to local airshows. Rides are available. Their cut-away motorized 9 cylinder radial engine is amazing! The engine sound of these airplanes are a symphony of power.

    I'd give my first born for a ride in a P-51.  I did get a once in a lifetime close up look at a B-29 last fall.

    Actually, the "Madras Maiden", one of 10 WWII B-17s still flying is at our local airport this weekend. For only $450, you can get on board for a 1/2 hour flight.
