What wood should be used with Super Bowl pork shoulder?

I am going to be smoking a pork shoulder for the Super Bowl tomorrow. I am using Meat Church Honey Hog BBQ. I would like to use some wood from bourbon barrels, but didn't know if that would be to heavy for the shoulder and the rub. What wood would you recommend with pork shoulder and honey hog bbq rub? Thanks for the recommendations!!

You can get away with about anything as long as you know how it will impart the smoke. Give the below link a look as you have many options: FWIW-

never used anything but hickory or oak (or both). same as every Q joint in north carolina... and most everywhere else, I suspect.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I like to mix hickory and apple.

Are you planning to do a turbo? I love honey hog but only on a low and slow. Tried it with a turbo butt and it gets really charred with the sugar in the rub.

Pecan is my go to smokimg wood. Not too strong, very forgiving, never overpowering and always easy to use....
