Can anyone explain what the Karma symbols are on some messages, and where do they come from?

    It's a feature of the software they use to manage the beta .net site. It provides a way for registered forum users to permanently indicate they think another registered user does good or bad for the forum. Someone really helpfull? Give them a thumbs up to increase their karma. Someone the opposite? Give them a thumbs down to decrease their karma.

    That's my understanding anyway.

    BTW, keep in mind posts here do not show up on the .com site...
