Not my first time

Yesterday made two pizza's. One for my wife and the other for me.
Different taste. It is not the first time I have made pizza on the Egg.
The Egg did it's part but boy did I have trouble getting it off the stone. NO matter what I did, both of them stuck to the stone and made a mess getting them off. Oh well. Not sure I want to tackle that again. [p]Chef Jerry

    Did your stone get good and preheated before you put them on? You can build your pizza on parchment paper and bake it with it on, never sticks. -RP

    Yep. The stone was on shortly after I lit the fire. I did use cornmeal on the stone, but it still stuck. First time I have had that to happen. I will try the paper. Sounds like the way to go. Easy getting it on and off.

  • Jwirlwind,[p]As to the sticking as long as the Egg is hot and you have a 'decent' pizza peel of some sort you might have been missing the lubricant to make it slide off easily?[p]A lot of folks recommend cornmeal and that definately works. For me I don't like the little bit of added cornmeal flavor and I found a substitute. Semolina flour is pretty course and works just as well but doesn't impart any 'additional' flavor IMO. Sprinkle it on the peel and on the stone as well. I find if I'm doing more than a couple pizzas both cornmeal and semolina I'll accumulate some granules on the pizza stone that look kinda burnt so I'll wipe them off with a damp paper towel, cloth or just a grill brush.

    Would it be a problem to do a small pizza directly on an inverted platesetter with parchment paper?

    That's the way I did mine until I got a pizza stone. I think I cooked pizzas about five times that way. It works just fine. [p]Trouble
