I was really gonna dig into that today too.

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

Interesting read.  Could get things rolling for the evening entertainment but likely not controversial enough.  Time will tell.

Buffalo is passive with its aggression.

"Let's allow this divisive bvllsh!t for a couple days, at which point we can shoot it down and pretend we are moderating"

Nah. It's really not that. It just appears to be that because it happens every time.

Reality is @The_Buffalo doesn't roam frequently enough to catch the stuff they supposedly want to catch.

Removing a post two days after the supposed 'damage' is done is a bit useless as far as moderation goes.

The forum is not moderated. It is retroactively edited.

There does not appear to be an actual applied logic frankly.

I say, roam wherever and let the buffalo chips fall where they may.

At least I got in on http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1202263/forums-problem-off-topic-posts before the buffalo gets it.

Did they kill the KJ discussion too? I haven't gone beyond the first page. Hahaha

i wonder what it would take to get a post killed same-day? (Edit: besides the buffalo actually spending time on the forum a few times a day, i mean)

@JustineCaseyFeldown -  I had one killed in about an hour in late December.  The topic was about shipping companies (avoiding names, using the 3 and 5 letter descriptors) and I think it garnered one comment ( a constructive post) before getting the buffalo treatment.  Seems shipping companies are quite dear to the buffalo's heart.  Who knows??

I was trying to recall which brand names got the nuke job too. I think RRP posted something totally nonconfrontational which mentioned a brand name, and the thing got torpedoed pretty quickly

it is almost (almost) as if there are filters set up for certain things but not others

    zero rhyme or reason

@ nolaegghead has over 100k posts.  Sadly, 80k are undocumented due to the buffalos policies.

I see that SEARS is selling off the CRAFTSMAN brand for $900million to STANLEY. Not sure what that will meant for the CRAFTSMAN lifetime warranty.

I haven't bought anything CRAFTSMAN in quite awhile tho anyway. Tend to stick with FLUKE, MAKITA, WIHA, BOSCH, FESTOOL, PORTER CABLE, SNAP-ON, PANASONIC. RIDGID, LEE VALLEY, and a few others*.

    * Just throwing in some brand names to see if anything awakens the Buffalo.

I think any comment by @nolaegghead is subject to buffaloing.  If @SGH posts it offsets Nola.

Oh, and this is why I have suggested that the new post notification emails contain the body of the new post, like so many other message boards do - so we can follow buffaloed threads. Guess that suggestion fell on dear ears. And it was posted in the right forum, too!

oh my god- I was looking for something else and ran into a meltdown from 2010 with all the old school guys. Hilarious. Had to be from the other forum. Humphrey, Massengill, WessB, Chubby aand many more. Paragraphs of explanation and counterpoint were written. You can tell this was the era before texting was so popular.  You think it's unmoderated now? Ha! Threats of violence not seen since the "SGH Incident" and the rubmyrock fiasco of 2013-ish. pure greatness.

No, @JohnInCarolina , @Little Steven , @henapple , and the main mod @SGH .  @nolaegghead was a mod, but he was removed for deleting @St!ke from the forum.

Did the phrase "drop you where you stand" appear in that thread?

    That was a low point

    that was precorporate though.

I could understand BGE wanting to clean up their 'official' forum, especially at a time of year when there is an uptick in new members/owners

but they don't appear to have any real rhyme or reason
