DammitThe Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

I guess I'm old skool still happy with a Mr. Coffee 12-16 cup old fashioned. Don't get me wrong this is pretty cool and I can see myself using this 10fold over any of that pod crap.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

That's kinda neat.
The newer Nespresso (Vertuoline?) version does something similar with a pod i.e. the pod spins instead of the coffee being extracted with pressure from a boiler.
From the video, it seems that the crema is not as "fine" as it is from an espresso machine using pressure. I like the idea of not being locked in to using overpriced pods, though.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

I like trying different flavors too.
I do have a French press for my freshly ground beans, and think I would like to try pour over too, but don't have the right kind of kettle.
My wife says I don't really like coffee, just like a little coffee flavor in my creamer. A little honey helps too. -
If Spinn wasn't a preorder expecting to ship next year (who hasn't been burned by those promises??), I'd buy one now. I love the concept, but I'm not waiting for a damn year!Northern Virginia

I'd kind of like to actually taste the coffee this thing produces before I bought one. Might just be me though."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

We got a Keurig as a gift. The "gift" of a lifetime of 75¢ cups of coffee plus carbon replacement "filters" is not a gift, it's a sentence.
I was perfectly happy with my 30 year old Bunn - as long as you use good quality freshly ground beans and don't use tap water it makes the best coffee I've ever had.
Now my beloved Bunn is on a shelf in the basement while I try to run out of those friggin' pods, Americans throw away enough plastic to circle the moon a few times every year.
Can't get rid of the Keurig, what if our "friends" come over and it's not on the kitchen counter????
I need my own apartment to get away from marital bliss once in a while.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

Anyone remember the 'Coolest' cooler?
Sounds like this may be a similar 'opportunity'... -
Another opportunity to spend your money now for a product that might be available by the end of next year.
Looks like they plan to really make their money by the subscription coffee sales and the proprietary water filter sales.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
I would need to know a lot more about the grinder - namely particle distribution size over different grind settings. Here's an example:

In general, I'm very skeptical of these types of all-in-one machines, but, at least in the advertising, this one addresses a lot of important points with serious coffee drinkers. I will almost guarantee this machine can't deliver serious espresso for a lot of different reasons. Decent espresso grinders usually start around $700 and go way up from there. And, the number of grinders that can appropriately do both espresso grinds and drip grinds well is darn near zero. No way could this be so cheap if it actually delivered.
But, I am intrigued on the coffee making side and might look at it down the road once it's been around the block a bit. Until then, my Technivorm delivers world class coffee when properly used and paired wth a great grinder.

Even if it is the Swiss Army knife of coffee makers, it has to have compromises. -
Another coffee thread awhile back got me to get a French press and I will never have anything else. Cheap and makes great coffee.
