OT - Do any of you guys have side gigs?

Options
I am just curious if any of you have side jobs. I have always done something on the side to make extra money. For the past 17 years I have been a website designer on the side. I work for myself doing the sites. I also own a couple of e-commerce sites.

Am I the only one that has side gigs or do some of you as well?

    John,

    I do as well.

During my early years of on my own, I mowed yards for while.  My main gig became too involved so I stopped.  Still miss it at times, just not during the dog days of summer.  I gave my brother all my accounts and he's still doing that now too as a side gig.

Here lately I have been a photographer on the side.  I got busy very fast with that and became burnt out after my last wedding I shot.  I committed to the wedding a year prior to shooting it.  The wedding was 8/8/15.  My Mom passed away on 8/4/15.  I lost my drive for that work and have yet to do another paid gig.

It's possible I'll get back in the saddle again, but not yet.

@DoubleEgger If you could figure out how to get paid for it that would be sweet!

@tarheelmatt I totally get that. I know that was a hard wedding to cover that soon after you lost your mother.

@Jeremiah One of the only ways I can get away with doing my side projects is that I can do them at home and stop and start when I need to in order to spend time with my wife and kids. I enjoy pressure washing!

I used to consult in web design & marketing (SEO & PPC) a lot - so much so that it became very involved. But now my full time job takes way more time (and is also in that space) and I'd rather spend free time with the kiddo & my eggs.

Used to bartend at a sweet place, and made more money BS'n, pouring drinks than what I went to school for.  Have not regretted the change, even with the lucrative Charge RN pay.

But if I switched gears, it would definitely be back behind the bar.  A different kind of stress, a$$es to elbows deep, getting orders slurred at ya, good music by the DJ, and good staff to manage....I thrived.

Plan C would be Hilltop Gunshop, strictly for the discount on my next LAR.

I hear you. I also did consulting for SEO and PPC for a while, but I didn't like it. I enjoy building sites for others, and I really enjoy owning e-commerce sites. I don't care how many sales I get I still get a kick out of getting new orders!

After the Panda and Penguin updates I got out of that game.

Last dozen years before retirement we developed 14 doors of rental property that helped make retirement possible. 44 years in the car business as GM gets you all the pens you can steal.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I bought my first rental property last year. It is a duplex. So far it has worked out pretty good. Full capacity and on time rent payments are great! I am thinking of buying a few more.

The bourbon slushies have affected my outcomes.  Still there's no one better.

I don't operate on boobs.  I am however a purveyor.

I used to build websites also on the side. Don't know if any of you web guys remember the Mage system. I built a ton of sites and it was great and made a lot of money until the big ole Google slap came along. I still have a handful of my best performers. I get emails addressed to me about the sites with offers for SEO help. I lol bcause, if they can't tell an autoblog when they see one, they are still very green behind the ears. I built them years ago, haven't touched them since, they still generate content, and revenue. Then, I decide to go legit and write cookbooks for Amazon. Got that one off my bucked list. Had to create something, it's just my nature. Haven't done one of those in awhile either. Enjoying retirement right now.

Google slapped me so hard I saw stars. My first e-commerce site was netting about $3K per month and Panda and Penguin hit, and it was over. The site never recovered.
