Do you have the round or oval version?
I'm leaning towards the oval combination but wanted your advice.

I have the round, wish I had gotten the oval. Would have been better for ribs and turkeys for sure.Central Valley CA One large egg One chocolate lab "Halle" two chiuahuas "Skittles and PeeWee"

Oval R&b combo with an extender to get higher in the dome and an extra set of rods and an extra grate. Perfect setup for anything I attempt to do. I've done 180 wings at one time on various levels.Athens, GA

I'm in need of ordering a combo for my XL but I've got that dome that measures 15.5" from grate level to top of chimney. I'll have to get on their website and see if I can determine what my best options are unless someone else has the same dome measurement and some advice.

I have the oval R&B combo. Works great for brisket or ribs, but I found that I kept losing a wing or two off the long side of the oval grate.
I later discovered that the sliding grid they sell works better as a second grid at mid level than the oval grid. It does for me at least.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Round, don't think oval was available when I bought it. Works great for multiple butts, chicken parts, wing cooks. If you do a lot of ribs and brisket, then the oval slide setup seems like the better option.

Call Tom @CGS tell him what you have in mind, what you cook mostly, etc. He is a stand up guy and will not sell you something you don't need. I called told him what I normally cook and he sold me less than I had planned and all I needed.Lenoir, N.C.

Ordered AR/whoo and spider to cover my different possibilities along with the 17.5" round stone and a few extra grates etc. I'm sure I'll be able to make something work that will be very beneficial.
-
Both. I use spider and round stone when i need more than two cooking levels.. And i use the oval when ot comes to ribs or a couple of pork shoulders or on Thursday, a turkey. Oval grod, oval stone amd oval ring for the home made foil drip pan set atop the mini cgs spacers. It all worked awesome
But with oval stone you lose your lowest cooking level so to create maximum vertical space you need spider, round stone and adj rig amd round grid up top
I couldnt egg with all of this flexibility....
