Cold smoking

Are there any posts or threads that give tips and advice on cold smoking? I want to add another element to my BGE.

I've only cold smoked jalepenos in my LBGE so far. Used an A-Maz-N pellet smoker at the bottom of the Egg. I went with wide open vents for the entire smoke and used the platesetter. Worked well for me, now that it's cooler it's time for cheese, butter and bacon!

Keen to know what size to prepare foods down to and how long to smoke them? I know meats are best left alone. Also what trays should I use.

I too use an Amaze-N pellet tray for cold smoking. It works great with the Egg. I don't use the plate setter, though. It's just about time to smoke up a big batch of cheese and nuts!

I use Oscarware disposable trays. You can clean and reuse them.

You will need a mesh tray or other tray with lots of holes in it to let the smoke circulate.

You can still do it if you only have one egg. Use it as the fire box and duct it to anything else for the smoke chamber: cardboard box, metal locker, old oven, etc etc
