Building a BGE table for my large BGE - Have a couple of questions

1) How far up should the large BGE be lifted to clear the hinge etc.
2) At that height, what diameter should the hole be?

I did mine 15" with a 22" hole. With a table nest and no paver since mine was all metal it still puts it higher then many I've seen. I had a reason though. I didn't weld cross pieces to the sides, I made them bolt in so I could lift the bottom of egg in into the table nest and set top over it before I assembled the top of egg. I didn't know how I'd get whole egg into the nest by myself. The dimensions were a little different for my XL pictured here, but you get the idea. I just replicated the BGE plans basically.

Hello fellow VOL!!!

That standard table plan is fine but if you want the egg to sit deeper down so that it doesnt stick up as high, your table depth will need to be closer to 30" to allow you to cut out a place for the hinge. Heres a link to a picture of my table for example.

Go Vols! I really like that idea so it can sit lower. What is the diameter of that hole? Do you have a pic with the BGE in the table?

For marking the hole I used a 5 gallon paint stirrer. Just put a screw thru on one end and then drill a hole where you need for your marker.

I'm gonna take it sideways. I'm pretty vertically challenged so I built my set up with about 2 inches below the handle. Then I cut a place out for the hinge. This keep my lip just about counter height
