Flames leaping out of lower door!

Weird new development. After searing at 600 in my large BGE, I put daisy wheel on with just tiny holes and closed lower door all but 1/2" and for a while pulsing flames shot out from lower door like a dragon's mouth. Never saw that before. I thought the whole thing might blow. What's up?

    Bud Jones,[p]Pretty normal. It's like tring to shut up your drunk neighbor at a party - you can try but it just doesn't want to stop. Closing up an Egg at 600 deg will not be what it wants to do so you should expect a little fighting. It won't "blow" though.[p]Tim
