    I like it! I've thought of a similar idea except just hinging so the front (or back) of the table would open like a regular door. So far, a nest and side table is fine for me. Don't forget an air gap under the egg.

    I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

    As I stated earlier I think this is a genius idea, but the only change I would make on version 2 is to somehow get the latch mech on the inside of the top rail. Great post, thanks.

    Carolina Q ...I also like the idea of a 'back door' type table.

    As I move my egg frequently from the table for transporting to other cooking venues, this might well be what I've been looking for.

    If anyone sees any drawbacks, for using this idea with an XL, please chime in !
