Have seen "glaze" mentioned here and there...Pardon the ignorance but what exactly is it? How does it differ from sauce?

I put glaze on baked goods. Sauce goes on meat.

Less jokingly, I guess glaze would be a sugar-based substance like a brown sugar glaze for a ham. Sauce is typically more savory and can be used to "glaze or sauce" meat I'm the verb sense, during the latter stages of cooking.
