Sittin' Cornish Game Hen

Options
Tried a new spin on cooking Cornish Game Hens that turned out really good.  I bought the small cans of apple juice and used them like you would for a beer can Chicken.  Cooked indirect at 350 for about 45 minutes until the breasts read 165 and the legs read 185.  I used Dizzy Pig rub on 2 of the hens and a coffee rub on the other 2.  I preferred the Dizzy Pig rub over the coffee rub.  I roasted a pan of cut vegetables with olive oil and herb salt below the hens for the same duration and temperature and they turned out really good as well.

They look good! Could you actually taste any hint of apple?

The grub looks great brother. If you ever want to try another spin on CGH's, deep fry them. You talk about good. Again, great job.

I could not really taste the apple from the juice, just the flavor from the rub.

That's what I figured. Just doesn't get hot enough to steam the juice. (if it did your chicken would be rubbery overcooked junk)

I bet they were still wonderful though!

@deenet I usually do a mix of roasted vegetables with brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, potato's and butternut squash.
