  • The only mystery here is why Mittens thinks this will be effective.

Trump is an insurgent, anti-establishment candidate, obviously.

Mittens telling people not to vote for him is likely to have precisely the opposite effect.
Hmmmm . . . mysterious workings by the guy who started his speech by saying he wasn't running . . .

But if maybe someone were needed at a brokered convention . . . someone who knows how to run a national campaign . . . someone who is acceptable to the remaining "establishment" party elders desperate to make one last attempt to hold off the barbarians storming the convention castle . . . Problem is, those "barbarians" now ARE the party and they're already inside the castle!

What are the chances we're watching the trailer for "Mittens 3:  Return of the Savior?"  Is there enough popcorn for this movie?
    It's a 302 thing . . .

On Hillary Clinton’s watch at the State Department, America’s interests were diminished in every corner of the world. She compromised our national secrets, dissembled to the families of the slain, and jettisoned her most profound beliefs to gain presidential power.

For the last three decades, the Clintons have lived at the intersection of money and politics, trading their political influence to enrich their personal finances. They embody the term “crony capitalism.” It disgusts the American people and causes them to lose faith in our political process.
A person so untrustworthy and dishonest as Hillary Clinton must not become president.

Do other Asians call her an "Uncle Chow"?

The idea of a "brokered convention" is comical. The effect of that would surely be to hand the election over to Hillary.

The GOP is stuck with The Donald, and despite all this stuff, my guess is that eventually - most of them will fall in line.

I'm writing down all these ass hats that SAY they're moving to Canada IF Trump wins.

IF he does win, I'm going to Twitter and asking they in Canada yet?
The moving to Canada thing is always ridiculous. But at least it is less ridiculous than the people saying it after the Supreme Court ruled on the ACA and gay marriage - clearly unaware that Canada has had universal health care and gay marriage for over a decade.

Maybe, instead of fretting that they didn't run ads against Trump earlier, the GOP should be wondering why their voters are such easy marks.

re" Samantha Bee   "Thanks for the TBS hint, I need to start recording that"  Her show, Full Frontal, is a once a week show...new shows plays at 10:30pm on TBS here...time but not night likely varies elsewhere in country.  With TBS having lots of air time to fill, I am pretty sure TBS repeats that week's show at other times.  As was said earlier, her show is indeed killer.  She slams everybody as appropriate; left, right, R, D, Christian/Jew/Moslem, the seriously out-to-lunch-bunch and who-the-heck-knows.  Although I wish she was on every night, I suspect that with a weekly show she (and staff) are better able to create a really sharp show, and not worry about filling air time every night with something.  No stupid stunts or lame jokes here...just great and timely standup, delivered very well.  She is actually much better here than on the Daily Show, where she was often scripted to do stupid things.

Did not offer an opinion of the man as a president

it's been said he's the best man ever to be president. Which is very very different than the best president

I think a Trump candidacy is very interesting. Trump has been able to tap into angst from the right who feel that the country is heading in the wrong direction. He has been very effective in laying blame either on the Chinese and Latinos for the loss of jobs and by in large the electorate has gone along with that argument. To a degree he has also thrown the establishment in on the demise of the County although I think he has downplayed the impacts of giving China most favored nation status and NAFTA on the jobs. However I think laying blame on people that look and talk differently is a much easier sell than policy debate. I think that Mitt's comments are going to do more to energize the Trump base. The Trump base is already mad as hell and will view this as here comes the establishment who have let us down for the last 8 years telling us to fall back in line. I think his base will dig in and want to fight. Bernie has also been able to tap into angst as well but just from the other side. Bernie's problem is that most of the folks on the left are satisfied with which way the Country is headed and getting the sort of traction that Trump has isn't possible, people take to the polls when they are upset. Therefore Hillary can run on the "keep moving in the right direction" line and is sure to be the nomination.

"In support of this, Stankov (2009) cited evidence that people with more conservative views tend to score lower on IQ tests and to have lower levels of education. Not surprisingly, conservatives tend to react with anger to such assertions. " =)

I'd agree that there is some confirmation bias occurring, but I also think that there is some truth to the observation that more extreme dogmatic positions on either side of center are held by the less intelligent segment of the cohort.

Trump? If you would have told Americans 20 years ago a black(half black)man with a middle eastern name in the middle of a war in Iraq would be president.....

Why is Trump so surprising? I'd much rather have him than hillary.

35.4% of Americans are tied to the government teat.... Has Obama helped the middle class? Will billary? **** it... I'll roll the dice.

Regarding Ross Perot-while he had a reasonable set of issues and talking points his presence in the 1992 election handed the win to Bill Clinton.  Elected with around 43-44% of the popular vote. And now we have the bit-- poised to run in 2016.  And the sad part is the bit-- could pull it off-despite having no personal integrity and a disregard for anything close to truth when it stands in the way of personal gain.

The more the establishment and the media rail against Trump, the more popular he gets. The GOP establishment is too arrogant to realize it's all their fault for selling out their base for years.

As sorry and weak of a president that Carter was, im inclined to agree that he is indeed a great man. No question of it. He has given back far more than he has ever taken. That is a claim that no one else in politics today can make.
