I switched to the Daily Chef Heavy Duty from Sam's Club. It's very inexpensive, high quality and lasts a loooooong time.

Me too.

At the moment I'm a member at BJ's. Anyone know if they stock a HD foil that's worthy of purchasing? TIA~~
-
I haven't bought any of their HD in awhile. Am about to run out of my stash, so thanks for the tip, I'll have to look around.
But, they have introduced a non-stick foil. The stuff is great for oven cooking. Cookies, chicken pieces, fish sticks and the like come right off w/o anything left sticking to the foil.

I've never seen so much emotional investment in aluminum foil.
Godspeed in your quest for the one true foil.
Perhaps this will help you explore your options - http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-aluminum-foil/“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
The sweethome review was done in 2015. The thickness of the Reynolds HD foil that they list is actually thicker that what Reynolds said it was in 2010.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -

I use Walmart's Great Value HD. Likely same vendor as Sam's brand.Lenoir City, TN - Bama fan in Tenn Vol's backyard.

@Webass Yes and No. Likely the same factory makes it but, the roll from Sam's Club is much larger size wise in width and quantity.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Glad Wrap did the same thing; it's miserable to work with now._____________

I just started buying the big rolls from RD. 18" heavy duty. Great stuff, especially for foiling drip pans. I'll never buy the small rolls again.

After reading all of this I have to ask this simple question, should the shiny side be facing the item being cooked or the dull side?

I knew that! For all the others it's foil and compared to the cost of Big Green Egg cooking it's very cheap so don't worry to much about the quality because you can overcome this problem. It's like just how clean do you need to keep a drip pan!I'm only hungry when I'm awake!

Hmm, I bought the high cu foot rolls in a 2 pak from costco years ago. I'm finally starting to get low on the 2nd roll. That really sucks if they changed the thickness on the HD. I may have to do some research when I get lower.

I bought the 2 packs from Costco as well. A friend only uses Super Duty foil when he cooks. It's pretty thick and durable. Been meaning to get some for the bigger cooks.Aledo, Texas

I was referring to the thickness though Walmart's GV HD comes in a 18" Extra Wide width, available in 75' roll.Lenoir City, TN - Bama fan in Tenn Vol's backyard.
