Pit Boss Kamado Grill
Hi all, long time no post. It's slowly beginning to warm up a little here in the UK so the Egg will get more and more use as the days go by.
Quick question, a mate of mine wants a BGE but doesn't have the funds. Over here you're looking at $2000.00 for a Large egg and a decent bundle.
In Costco over here (pretty sure you have them over there too?) they are currently selling a 24" Pit Boss Kamado Grill, for the bargain price of around $550.00, quite a saving over the BGE.
Question is, 1. Have you heard of Pit Boss Grills, and 2. if so, are they worth bothering with or are they a false economy?
Thanks as always for your opinions
Cheers!

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten!
Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing! -
I agree with @LKNEgg
My biggest concern on buying a ceramic grill is service/parts.
I think you can buy service plans with Costco. This might not get you replacement parts...but at least get your money back if you can not find parts in the near future or if the company does not back the product.
For the huge price savings, I would sure check into the Pit Boss Kamado.
I really like the way the upper and lower bands are grooved into the ceramic.

The only thing I like about this deal is it's at Costco. They will take it back for life if it sucks. If it fails and you can't get parts, just return it. I would give it a rip if it looks at all decent but probably not anywhere but Costco
My bro in law bought a vision from Costco and the daisy wheel melted (they use plastic on it...duh). He took it back after a year and they refunded him no questions asked.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
Looking at this Kamado online, it looks decent enough. It does have a limited lifetime warranty on the ceramics, which is good although it does stipulate that the cost of transportation is not covered. Depending on where you are, that could be quite pricey. BGE also states in it's warranty that they only cover eggs sold by authorized dealers and specifically exclude big box or club style stores.Check out reviews of the product to find out what other owners are saying about the warranty and customer service before committing to it. Good luck.

The grill is from Louisiana Grills. Danson is the parent company, out of Canada, I believe. In the States, Lousiana Grill is out of Minnesota and Washington, go figure. They have other grills in their line.
The Pit Boss has been in the market a couple years. Auplex in China makes the Pit Boss for Lousiana Grills. Comparable to the other china kamados in the market.
Some china companies measure grill size outside edge to outside edge, so you need to double check actual grill size when comparing.

One thing that I really don't like is their website. There is next to no information on any of their products. Very poor self promotion.
