I'm looking to get a second egg. Currently I have an XL. I've thought about getting a second one to compliment my XL. I want something smaller for sides or smaller cooks. debating between a medium and small.

Just get another XL. I don't see the dilemma here. Actually, your second BGE should be the XXLDenver, CO

I have an XL and a MM. My next is a Medium. I have really enjoyed my current combo. Perfect for when My Beautiful Wife and I are without the children, or when we go camping or tailgating. The XL for entertaining, and when the children are home, with their friends. I have done butts, tenderloins, tri tips, ribs, steaks, burgers smoked sausages, veggies, shrimp,on the mini max. We even do pizza. Great combo."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I would probably get a medium only because you mentioned you wanted to get smaller. Personally I would get another XL. I like things even.

Just do what we all did, keep buying each size until you find out that medium is the best second egg to the XL. Now I have a large, small, and mini as a side benefit.

Depends on what you want to do. If you are not going to move it around, I agree with others and recommend a medium. Very versatile. Comes to temp quickly and uses charcoal economically.
