Where to eat and drink in Charleston, SC?

Heading to Charleston, SC Thursday afternoon. Meeting the wife after a business meeting staying until Sunday. Where should we be going to drink great beer and eat seafood? Love the local hole-in-the-wall kinda place. We would also like to check out some bbq. Being land locked in Texas I have my eyes set on seafood for days on end

Pretty much every restaurant in Charleston rocks, it's a foodie mecca! Jestines Kitchen for some Soul Food, Peninsula Grill for awesome seafood and Swig and Swine for incredible BBQ! (and beer).

Pages okra grill in Mt Pleasant, just across the bridge from down town Charleston.The entire menu is great.
BBQ in my opinion, Browns in Monks Cornor witch is as about 20 miles north of Charleston.
There are so more up scale places in Charleston. Good luck. Enjoy.

FIG (food is good) is my favorite restaurant. a little spendy but worth it.

The Ordinary is the same chef but focused on seafood/raw bar is good as well.

I would also recommend Leaf for lunch or happy hour.

We thoroughly enjoyed Magnolias shrimp and sausage over grits, and fried green tomatoes. A little touristy yet somehow authentic southern at the same time.

If you're looking for a hole in the wall seafood you can try Bowens island restaurant. Been a bit since I've eaten there, but it was good. Just don't expect much besides good food. They used to only be open a few days a week.

For lunch we like Cru Cafe as our favorite - get a reservation though. Also a good lunch is Slightly North of Broad (SNOB) which is touristy but good food! For happy hour Pearlz Oyster Bar has good atmosphere. We tried 167 Raw not too long ago and had a great lobster roll at lunch, was pricey though. We also like Holy City Brewing which is a short drive from downtown/historic Charleston. Bottom line, there are a ton of great places in Charleston. I've not had BBQ there, though! I'm ready to return!

Sticky Fingers has some great ribs. Definitely Hyman's for Seafood. I have never had a bad meal in Charleston, hard to go wrong there

Page's for breakfast or lunch and Home Team BBQ for dinner and beers. They have live music on weekend nights.

Both of those are "locals" places. Not touristy like some of the others mentioned. I also really like Hanks for a nicer meal. Also a locals spot.

Poogan's porch is a great local spot as well as cru cafe. We also are big fans of the boathouse at breach inlet but it's a smal drive from downtown. I'd recommend hanks to hymans as the latter is more of a tourist destination.

Go to the Griffin on (rue de vendu?) for excellent fish n chips for lunch. Also recommend Poogans Porch and Magnolias for outstanding fried chicken. If you really want to drop some money, try Halls Chop House.

Cry Cafe is awesome food. A little off the beaten path near the market. We celebrated our 30th at High Cotton last June. Pricey but they know good service and good food. If you're shopping on King Street, be sure to stop by Closed for Business. Great local beers and you've got to try the Pork Slap when you're there!

I haven't been to the Tattooed Moose.....but have seen their DDD expose. They have a pork belly sandwich that looks killa......curious what a local thinks.

I've been here and it rocks. Duck fat fries and the pork belly sandwich are absolutely worthy! Great lunch spot.

Robin, you won't be disappointed brother. I can't imagine any better recovery food than food cooked in duck fat

Husk -- for brunch
Toast -- for brunch... bottomless mimosas here as well
Hominy Grill -- for breakfast. The "Charleston Nasty Biscuit" is anything but nasty. It is mouthwatering.

I've also heard great things about the Tatooed Moose; however, I have yet to try it out. Also heard great stuff about Home Team BBQ.

We had some sort of crispy pigs ears appetizers that were excellent. Great city. Only 2 hours down the road one would think we would get there more often. Have fun.
