Perfect Drip Pan fo LBGE

Hey all. I hope it's ok to post this. I'm not a shill nor do I work for anyone. (retired). I just wanted to pass along a drip pan I found for the Large BGE. After much measuring and searching, I found this one at Hobby Lobby. It is 15" x 11" x 2" and fits the egg perfectly. With the platesetter legs-up the cooking grid clears by about 1/2 inch. I know there are some throwaway foil pans that work well too but I wanted a more permanent solution. I just line this with foil and then toss the foil. Much less waste, I think. I have 4 pieces of pork tenderloin smokin' over it as I write this. Happy smokin' to all and especially you guys that got hit with the big snow. I hope you all are able to dig out your eggs!

not raining on your parade at all -OK? but my go to drip pan which I also line with foil is a 12" x 2" round one. It hangs over the bottom of my plate sitter so there is no corner blockage. If you live in a community which has a commercial bread bakery they normally have an outlet store associated with it. There, besides goofs and day old items, they often sell used pans of various sizes and shapes CHEAP. Here's mine which I have since cleaned up.

I am sure this is as personal as lump choice- why would someone use a pan or not use a pan?

no sparring - His larger size makes more sense, however I would have won anyway with the veteran votes as my pan has more battle scars from years of service at the bakery!

@Mantoothian it'll be a challenge to find it around here, I got it during a visit to India at a Costco-like place, paid in Rupees equivalent of $1 or so I think!

Just curious in your final picture - it appears you have one of Tom's spiders hanging off your fire ring with a pizza stone on it...then above is a p/s with legs up and then your drip pan. With all that ceramic mass what is it you egg in that manner?

I had a tough time finding a drip pan for my Small Egg. Needless to say the Egg is round and a round drip pan would be the one of choice. I ordered a ceramic 9" cake pan from Kohl's; http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2330663/wearever-9-in-nonstick-ceramic-round-cake-pan.jsp?skuId=WearEver+9-in.+Nonstick+Ceramic+Round+Cake&search=WearEver+9-in.+Nonstick+Ceramic+Round+Cake&submit-search=web-regular.

After 3 cooks it looks like new. Just needs a typical hot water wash. No scrubbing as it cleans up with no effort. I ball up some aluminum foil so it rests an inch or so above the platesetter. It is so much better than anything else I used

Good eye and good question Ron ... I wasn't egging anything in that picture, that's how I store my spider, stone and p/s ... just opened the dome and placed the drip pan to illustrate the fit

I usually use a large round matching drip pan for my XL too. However, when I do ribs in the XL, I prefer to use a half sheet baker's pan ... it sits nicely between the XL p/s legs and matches the footprints of full rib racks better, the corners protect the rib ends that extend beyond the p/s.

I use a drip pan to keep all the grease out of the egg. I also do not like the grease from chicken burning on the lump as for me it taste bad.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Ceramic Grill Store stainless steel drip pans. My favorite is the 14" diameter one ... 3/4" deep. Tom recommends the 16" diameter one ... my 16" pan is 11/16" deep. Less than $15 each and look like a lifetime purchase.
