I've cooked 1,000 butts. 500 from frozen, which is the best method ever and the only way I will cook them until I die 50 years from now, but these went on at 7:45pm @ 240 degrees last night and they are well into the stall @ 10:40am this morning. 27 degrees was the low last night and it's currently 30 degrees. For all the newbies, this is why temp probes in the meat are essential, and cooking time is not reliable. Normally the butts will go for 24 hours from frozen, even when its 100 degrees here in the hotlanta. So, this is just a friendly PSA. Almost time to start drinkin' again. Something about snow makes me wanna drink, kinda like breathing does.
The Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.
Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

Looking Good! We are on the Southside McDonough area. We are smoking butts today as well

Dam, wrong butt picture. Those of you who are observant would have noticed the XL pic, but the butts were clearly on a Large (my other baby). Here is the correct pic so that nobody can call me a liar, which I will go to my grave not being.

Dan how long into the cook before you can get the probes in?
-
Must be a Georgia thing.. it snows.. we make pulled pork..
I got a smallish 7 pounder on the large this morning. Wanted to put it on last night but drank too much and was too tired. So this morning it is, and turbo style, close to 300 early and slowing it down, to wrap in butcher paper later. Don't have to eat until 8!
What snow we got is melting in the sun- hooray!
Beer however is still flowing!
I'll have to try the frozen butts next go 'round, sounds easier.-FATC1TY
