Best grill gloves?

can someone recommend a good pair of grill gloves? I bought a pair of those orange gloves and they are pretty much crap! I burned my hand the first time I used them pulling a cast iron skillet off the egg. I'm looking for a pair that will allow me to grab the plate setter at about 350 degrees or to remove a cast iron skillet without burning my hand. Any recommendations?

I have these and a pair of BGE ones and there is no difference between the two but they are both awesome and I have taken the plate setter out at 450*F with no problems.

I made the same mistake also when I bought the silicone gloves. Even though the thermometer, in the dome, says 350 the plate setter or cast iron is much hotter. I have tried other gloves but the only that really work are welders gloves. The orange gloves are great for taking food off the grill, splatchcocked chicken, not any good for taking cooking grids out of the egg. Hope this helps.

and I don't like them at all. If you pick up anything the least bit greasy you can't grip it. I had a pork but on a grate, I just about pulled it apart trying to get it to the pan.

Welder's gloves for anything hot and metal. Buy a good pair and they'll last a long long time.

Agree with welding gloves for hot metal. You can usually pick up a good pair and a reasonable price. I have a pair that is 20 years old and is still going.

My issue with welding gloves is they seem to turn rock hard after awhile. I use a higher temp version of the oven glove which works very good and they are machine washable.

I use Firefighters gloves for handling stones/plate setter and I use silicon for handling meat.

You can grab a hot platesetter out of a 600 degree egg if need be. Granted I go to extremes on basically everything I buy.

I have a pair of welders gloves that get uncomfortable when holding the plate setter for more than a few seconds, great for holding tongs over high heat though. I also have a pair of silicone grill gloves that work great when removing the plate setter but are not very flexible when handling utensils.

I got the orange gloves as a gift. First time, yep, almost burned my hand.

The only thing I've found they're good for is to pull a woo2/platesetter off of a low and slow. That, and I won't ruin more pot holders.

I use these welding gloves when lighting with the torch and moving around hot non-food items like plate setters and cast iron pans.

When I'm moving food I try to use my spatulas and tongs. If I really have to pick food up with my hands then I use Ekogrips.

Woweee. Those are extreme. But they probably do work really well! Nice!

I have both welding gloves and the soft synthetic/silicone ribbed ones as well. Either will handle breif contact with the platesetter. The soft ones get uncomfortable pretty quickly. The most important thing is having a good landing spot picked uut. Is the soft gloves get greasy at all that compromises their ability to protect the hands. The welding gloves hold out heat a bit longer than the soft type.

I've used welding gloves but they eventually get rock hard and if they ever get wet the heat resistance drops. I bought these at the recommendation of @tarheelmatt and haven't looked back. If something happened to these gloves I would buy another pair just like them.

I cannot recommend these enough. They've really done well for me. Maggie, the dog, got a hold of one glove. The thumb is hanging off a little, but still works. Used them the other night on my reverse sear ribeye.

I almost never use gloves. Cheap welders gloves on rare occasions (bought LONG before I ever heard of an egg), just a hot pad for moving a skillet. The only time I ever touch my platesetter is when it's cold. I have a couple of other high heat gloves, but I don't use them either.
