By now you already know your YETI will keep your hot drink HOT and your cold drink COLD. Both conditions deteriorate in time. With a cold drink with ice that means ice will still melt and water down your drink. If it's just ice water so what? but if it's an adult beverage that's a different matter. What I prefer to use are those scilicone ice cube trays which make huge nearly 2 x 2 x 1.75" cubes. I find 1 of them in my 16 oz YETI lasts a good hour and only gives up about 1/2 of it's size. Then I either throw it out or use it later for something else. Here's a comparison shot of a giant, a regular cube and one of those little crescent shaped cubes from your ice maker. You will be astounded how long 1 of these giant cubes last.

I concur. I had a friend tell me one time that he sat down and enjoyed a ribeye that took 30 minutes to eat. I didn't really understand as I can eat a side of beef in 30 minutes. I just don't understand these folksBotch said:An adult drink, that lasts more than 12 minutes?

interesting - just curious - what's the diameter? I find my cubes slide down, but don't touch the bottom which means there is a 4 point standoff for "sort of" uniform "surround" 8 sided cooling! @RRP I'm watching my Huskers right now (SMH!) along with.my Ham. Haven't used the molds yet. Just washed them this morning. I'll snap a shot of them later. Truthfully when I use the Lowball Yeti I have precooled it with ice (in the past) ,dumped the ice, added bourbon and it stayed plenty cold for consumption. If you believe that large ice cubes last longer than small slivers of ice, why don't you believe that large chunks of smoke wood last longer than chips?

I honestly don't remember taking a side in THAT argument. I would think that in all the instances above it would be a relationship between surface area and mass. The large round cubes will last longer than the large cubes. The large ones will all last longer than the small pieces of equal weight. Same with the coal or chips.
